PartIII- Execution
3.01 Inspection
Installer shall inspect areas and conditions under which prefabricated glass
reinforced gypsum members are to be installed and notify the contractor of any
unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory
conditions have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the installer.
3.02 Preparation
Coordinate installation with work of other trades. Verify reference points and
elevations provided by the contractor of installations of gypsum members. Layout gypsum
members from reference points and elevations provided by the contractor. Refer any
discrepancies to the contractors.
3.03 Installation
- General: install prefabricated glass reinforced gypsum members in required
locations, plumb, level, sloped and square, in required planes with related surface,
securely anchored in place.
- Columns
- Secure base of columns to floors with clip angles.
- Spread adhesive over back of joint flange. Secure framing member to the vertical joint
allowing ½ to extend beyond the vertical edge. Secure with standard drywall screws.
Position the second section of the column enclosure in place and pull tight at the joint
line. Secure this section with standard drywall screws, same as the first section.
- Tape joint may be immediately finished if necessary. Tape and float seams, joints and
fasteners. Sand smooth exhibit one-piece construction ready for field painting.
- Ceiling panels:
- Install hangers and supporting members as indicated on drawings. Provide powder actuated
fasteners driven into overhead structural supports as anchorage for top ends of hangers.
Space hangers as required with a minimum of four (4) hangers for each segment of
prefabricated glass reinforced gypsum members. Install channels and other framing members
as detailed. Securely wire tie or bolt together for secure installation. Attach gypsum
members to framing members with anchors and fasteners as detailed. Coordinate installation
of prefabricated glass reinforced gypsum members with related mechanical and electrical
work.
Page 6
- Joints: securely anchor adjacent units with adhesive and anchors as detailed and in a
manner similar to that specified for joints in column covers, ready for taping and
sanding.
C. Finishing joints and fasteners:
- Apply treatment to joints, fastener heads, surface defects and elsewhere as
required to prepare work for decoration. Prefill open joints and rounded or beveled edges.
Apply joint tape at joints between units.
- Apply joint compound in three coats, and sand between last two coats and after last
coat.
3.04 Adjustment and Cleaning
- Remove and replace any defective prefabricated glass reinforced gypsum members.
- Clean exposed surfaces of gypsum members and adjacent surfaces soiled or damaged ruing
the work of this section.
- Clean up all debris caused by work of this section, keeping the premises clean and neat
at all time.

Attached you will find Custom Castings Northeast, Inc. shop drawings for this project.
Please ensure that your field personnel who will be installing the GRG/GFRC material
receive a copy of this packet. These shop drawings and installation and general notes will
assist your personnel in the successful completion of this project. This material was
quality control checked under Custom Castings Northeast, Incs ISO 9000 procedure
manual and conforms to the shop drawings and specifications for GRG/GFRC.
Please be alerted for material "cold creep." It is the same experience you
will have with gypsum wallboard if not handled/stored properly. Custom Castings Northeast,
Inc. ships its and/or rigs its trucks to prevent "cold creep." Leaving the
material in the crates until ready to use or duplication of the support system in a rigged
truck is the best method to avoid material movement.
Should you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to call. Our common goal is
a clean successful project.
Sincerely,
Custom Castings Northeast, Inc. |
